Autumn Burned Brightly

"Autumn burned brightly,
a running flame through the mountains,
a torch flung to the trees."
~ Faith Baldwin

Good Sunday morning...

It's chilly, but dry, and the clouds are gliding across the sky as I anticipate the sunrise. Quiet calm lulls the valley, decorated with evergreen trees and branches of red, yellow, burgundy, and orange leaves... The clouds continue to move, but they are thickening where the light shines. Will clouds shroud my cresting sun?

Joy That Is Shared

Halona Blow Hole

"A joy that is shared
is a joy made double
."
~ English Proverb

Just off Kalanianole Highway, Oahu's Blow Hole is a lava tube where on a wild and rough morning like today, the ocean rises and bursts up to the sky.

Creativity is Magic

Lanikai Beach, Kailua, Oahu

"Sometimes I think creativity is magic;
it's not a matter of finding an
idea,
but allowing the idea to find you."
~
Maya Lin

Lanikai, just south of Kaneohe: one of Hawaii's best beaches... Incomparable beauty... fine white sand...clear aqua ocean... arching palm trees. The beach where ancient Hawaiian royalty played... And at dawn today, life begins anew.

Loveliest Smile

"Autumn.. the year's last, loveliest smile."
~
William Cullen Bryant

An overcast sky today. Leaves are changing, so my mountain quilt is getting more vibrant... Greens are turning yellow. I love it when the reds and burgundies come in with a vengeance.

Soothed & Healed

"I go to nature to be soothed and healed,
and to have my senses put in tune once more."
~
John Burroughs

I don't know if I'll get a sunrise this morning, but cloud action along my ridge is wild. Fast changing light. Swirling, dream-like wisps of white and gray.

Fill Your Heart

"Fill your heart with
as much Love
as you can,
and don't hold it in."

Steven captured me this morning watching the sunrise. I love this photo and love him...

Follow Your Heart

"Follow your heart, your instincts.
People might try to dissuade you
from your passion,
but no one can
live your life
but you."

The pre-sunrise sky defies description... My camera can't capture the beauty, fire, and colors.

No Limitations

"Life has no limitations,
except the ones you make."
~ Les Brown

This morning's light
reminds me that life
is a gift
of unlimited possibilities.

Everything I want pulsates
waiting for me to create.

It will be done
if I want it.

Curiosity Survives

"It is a miracle that curiosity
survives formal education."
~
Albert Einstein

In Hawaii,
we call a nosy person,
niele - (nee-eh-leh)

That has always been me.
Niele
Or so my family says.

And while I may
have a big nose,
I think
I am more curious
than nosy.

And curiosity survives.

Sunlight Will...

Three minutes between these two photos.
"Sunlight will renew your pride."
~
Joni Mitchell

Just wisps of fog this morning in the valley. Lots of clouds. Very little sky where the sun is to rise. Clouds and light. Interesting formations of quiet grey and blue...

In contrast, looking south, towards Mt. Pisgah, the sky is awash with gorgeous color--light blues, oranges, pinks, and white... Clouds, clouds above me. Settled billows, with tributaries of light and sky. Pattern so still, seems etched, kissed.

(I sat and waited, needing to leave, thinking "too much clouds, no sun." Then... in seconds. Fog moved in, then spectacular fire ball of the sun... )

Peace Begins

"Peace begins with a smile."
~
Mother Teresa

This morning's sky, a watercolor box of blue, white, and pink. Again, the thick fog has rested low in soft, billowy white, giving a settling feeling of peace.
So much majestic beauty, with the chance of starting anew.

Go With It

Happy 60th Birthday Mr. Springsteen

"Growing old. It happens to everybody.
Might as well go with it
instead of going against it."
~
Bruce Springsteen

After eight days of rain and cloud and fog coverage, it looks like I'm going to get a sunrise today. And it may be spectacular. Rice Pinnacle is glowing orange.

I looked down to enter my last tweet and the fog rolled in with incredible speed. The valley is buried in fog. Everything is ethereal... and in seconds, clear. Unspeakable beauty.

World Speaks to Me in Colors

"The world speaks to me in colors,
my
soul answers in music."
~
Rabindranath Tagore

Clouds are wonderful this morning. Plentiful billows. High, but ablaze with red & gold, fast-changing color and light. A perfect ceiling for the sun.

We are all a part of the same, great body. The beat, our beat, unifies our hearts and our spirits with love and light.

Presence of an Angel

"Be careful how you look at people,
or treat them; you may be
in the presence of an
angel."
~ Barbara Hart

Beautiful, still morning. No clouds, just the sky's gentle colors as we wait for the sun.

Twenty-Four Hour a Day

"Faith is a twenty-four hour a day commitment."

Moments of Wholeness

"The fiery moments of passionate experience
are the moments of wholeness
and totality of the personality."
~
Anais Nin

Soaking in light and fog; watercolor sky. Stillness. In the distance, birds welcome daylight. Sunrise today? After four overcast days, I dunno. Sure is peaceful, tho...

Thinking...We soak in the sun to tan our skin... How about soaking in dawn to enrich our soul?
Ahh... there's that orange glow... now!

Essential Aspect

"An essential aspect of creativity

Edwin Land
Red glow... iridescent glory... the sun rising sets the stage with effortless clarity. Everything new, bright, and real. Happiness.

Only Poem

"The moment of change is the only poem."
~ Adrienne Rich

The clouds cover the sky with a thick blanket of lavendar and are outlined by red, bright red fire from the hidden sun...The cloud change in 15 seconds is incredible. No time to tweet, the sky is changing so quickly. A drama of clouds, fog, and light.

Defend the Truth

"Man has no nobler function
than to defend the
truth."
~ Ruth McKenney

Trying to control my excitement: I have a breath-catching RED pre-sunrise sky. Lavendar clouds... Chilly Asheville morning. Got hoodie on. Sky's colors are changing so fast, now I have yellow-pink-orange all doing their presun dance... Wild cloud patterns. Grey cotton balls, sponge imprints, and wavy lines against blue and yellow sky... ooo ooo oo Clouds tinged with red glow...

Life is all possibilities.

"The beginning is always today."

Spirit Within You

"Spirit within you
is always for expansion
and fuller expression."
~Thomas Troward
(Thank you, @skashliwal for quote!>

Valley is buried with heavy, still fog, But the sky is unburdened by everything but the sun's breaking light. This should be a nice one… Witnessing Nature's ethereal beauty. The stillness and light; magnificence and joy. How small we are and equally large and blessed…Sun so close to cresting the mountain and the fog is rising to meet it. Looks like smoke from a raging fire. Wild!

Word Is Love

all the weight and
pain of life.
That

David Frawley in his book Vedantic Meditation calls the hour or two before dawn "Brahma Muhurta," or the hour of God. This period is considered the best time for meditation and other spiritual activities. "Any problem can be solved if you try to solve it during this period of time." (Sunil Sehgal)

Shake, Shake

"Shake, shake mama,
raise your voice and pray
."
~ Bob Dylan

The fog has settled in the valley this morning, giving the illusion again of ocean and island. (In life, we see what we want to see.) My spirit is as light as the fog drifting across the horizon. For this moment, perfect peace rests, in time for the sun to crest the mountain.

Faith Has No Limits

"Faith is a sounder guide than reason.
Reason can go only so far,
but faith has no limits."
~ Blaise Pascal

Me & my new Toshiba netbook, waiting on the sun...
The sky has an orange glow, with lots of clouds, colors of grey, purple, blue. I look up, and just a sliver of the moon hangs above me. I feel excitement. Anticipation...Delight. This is such a good morning!

So much light. Gentle fog low, but the mist permeates. Oh man, the sun is glowing big fire. (Do I zoom in? I need better camera...) Mist moving fast through the valley; I'm all mist. Hair, lashes, arms.

Oh my God, this is too gorgeous for words.

Then, within seconds, the sun disappeared completely, swallowed up by the fog...

Check With the Sun

"If you are confused,
check with the sun."
~ Berry/Buck/ Mills/Stipe

This morning sun is spectacular, but clouds sure support the light with another magnificent show. Holy rays, glistening gold. Finally, the fog settles down, too. Behind clouds, letting the light kiss gentle...then the sun peeks. Great glory.

Full of Surprises

"Life is full of surprises, isn't it?"
~
Charlton Heston

Out of nowhere, a backyard treat, this hot air balloon lands in my backyard, then takes off again. Up to catch the sun. In the midst of it all, my big, brave dog Kolohe huddles under my work desk, hiding, scared of the loud "roar" echoing the cove, the sound of the
flame filling the balloon with hot air.

There In the Sunshine...

"Far away, there in the sunshine,
are my highest aspirations.
I may not reach them,
but I can look up and see their beauty,
believe in them,
and try to follow where they may lead."
~
Louisa May Alcott

Most Wonderful Thing

Happy Birthday, Richard

"The most wonderful thing about miracles
