In Silence

"What we cannot speak about
we must pass over in silence."
~ Ludwig Wittgenstein

Into the bucolic cove, I recognize my soul.
Diving connection,
submerging
defying definition.

Rising.

My heart floats there,
mist, fog, the world.

Nature hums light
and the clarity of color.
Silence, except for the birds.
no words, no one.
Just understanding
and infinite gratitude:
I am and will be.

Poetry of the Heart

"Poetry is the music of the soul,
and music is the poetry of the heart."

In Touch

"If you want to 'get in touch with your feelings,'
fine, talk to yourself.
We all do.
But if you want to communicate
with another thinking human being,
get in touch with your thoughts."
~ William Safire

A Light From the Shadows

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

Postpone a Sunrise

“You are living in a poem.”
Naomi Shihab Nye

Next to you
sweet justice
even the rain
knows
water cleans life
with efficiency.

Rain may postpone
a sunrise
but memory still
remembers the sun.

Intoxicated With Color

"We become intoxicated with color,
with words that speak of color,
and with the sun that makes colors brighter."
~ Andre Derain
